Alphonso M. Young, Jr. has been a professional Percussionist/Drummer and teacher for more than 20 years. Currently on the faculty of Shenandoah University, he has performed with Randy Brecker, Bob Berg, Ira Sullivan, Lester Chambers, Othello Molineaux and Jon Secada. He has toured Europe with the Broadway show "Sophisticated Ladies" and toured the Caribbean as a musician with Princess Cruises.

          As well as working with Foxhaven Recording artist Eric Byrd and saxophonist Howard Burns, he plays with vocalist Nia Olabesi, guitarist Jerry Gordon, the Jeff Kaye Trio, and is the leader of the Al Young Trio. Live performances include appearances at the East Coast Jazz Festival, the Capital Jazz Festival, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Blues Alley.
